Make Siri Say Whatever You Want Every Time You Connect Your iPhone to a Charger
Make Siri Say Whatever You Want Every Time You Connect Your iPhone to a Charger
Wondering how does this iPhone trick works? Well, it first requires you to set up an automation using the Apple Shortcuts app. The app is available for free and has existed since iOS 12. Though you will need iOS 14 or later to use this automation.
Note that the Shortcuts app also allows you to fine-tune the voice, adjust the rate, pitch and even change the language.
To do so, tap on Show More or the arrow icon and customize the settings to your heart’s liking. Once you have entered the text, you can tap the play button to preview how it will sound. If you wish to take the customization to the next level, iOS won’t disappoint you. For example, you can choose to let Siri speak and then set a song or sound effect to play immediately after the custom text. Besides, you also have the option to add the “Wait” action so that Siri can start speaking after a set number of seconds whenever you connect/disconnect your iOS device from a charger. 8. On the next screen, toggle off “Ask Before Running”. Make sure to confirm with “Don’t Ask” on the prompt. It is done to prevent Shortcuts from asking you to run the automation every time it’s triggered. This confirmation popup not only seems unnecessary but also defeats the sole purpose of automation. It’s important to note that in iOS 15.4 and later, make sure to turn off additional toggle named “Notify When Run” to ensure you don’t see any useless alerts. 9. Finally, tap “Done,” to finish and you are good to go! Going forward whenever you plug your iPhone to a charger or unplug it, Siri will speak the custom text.
Edit/Disable/Delete Siri’s Speak Text Automation on iPhone
What if you happen to change your mind later and want to get rid of the automaton for whatever reason, you can do so without any hassle. What’s more, you can also edit and disable the automation depending on your needs.
What iPhone Models Support Siri’s Speak Text Automation?
As mentioned above, it requires iOS 14 or later. That means you will need an iPhone 6s or later.
Why is Speak Text Volume So Slow When Connected to a Charger?
The Siri’s Speak Text volume is in accordance with the volume level of your iPhone. So, you can use the volume buttons or the volume slider (in Control Center) to adjust it.
Why is Siri Automation Not Working?
Make sure you have correctly set up the automation. You can head into the automation section to readjust it. If that doesn’t work, try updating your device.
